Celeriac chips are made from celeriac, also known by some as celery root. The celery roots have a different taste from boiled celery vegetables. They offer something tastier, still with that peppery hint like regularly celery but not quite as powerful. When mixed with your favourite herbs and spices like rosemary or paprika, you have the world at your feet - or should we say on your plate.
In terms of nutritional value, it contains about only 9g of carbs per serving. Celeriac is a root vegetable but it's much less starchy than potato and has a significantly reduced amount of carbs. It contains a lot of vitamins that are important for metabolism.

So you're getting more than just great taste. You also have a healthy dose of chips. The process of making celeriac chips is quite easy and simple but as with any new thing, there's a kind of art to it. But, with time, you can perfect that art of getting the texture and crispiness just right that soon, celeriac chips would be one of your favourites at home.

 

PREPARATION TIME: 20 minutes

COOK TIME: 30 to 40 minutes

COOK TEMP: 200C of 400F

 

Ingredients:
  • 300g of celeriac 

  • 2 or 3 tbsp olive oil 

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika 

  • 1 tsp pepper 

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)

 

Method
  1. Preheat the oven to 400 F or 200 C
  2. Peel the celery and cut into chip size pieces (you can also cut in fries)
  3. Pour into a bowl and add olive oil, paprika, pepper and salt for taste. Mix thoroughly Add the garlic powder for taste. This is optional.
  4. Place a baking sheet on the baking tray and spread the celeriac pieces out evenly.
  5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, depending on the celeriac thickness.
  6. Allow it to cool a bit and viola! 
  7. They can be served with whatever you like!
