Keto Bread (With Almond Flour)

Probably the hardest food to give up when you’re beginning your keto journey has got to be bread. It’s a staple across breakfast, lunch and dinner and some of our favourite meals are just not the same without it. But, your body isn’t actually the biggest fan of wheat breads.

Fortunately, you can substitute the wheat flour in your bread for either Almond flour or coconut flour for an absolutely fantastic alternative. For this recipe we’ll use almond flour but you can use coconut flour, the texture between the two when the bread is baked is different but each have their own merits.

Almond flour is made from ground almonds and it is a great substitute for wheat flour by keto lovers. What makes almond flour so special and beneficial? One; it is parked with great nutrients. Two; it is low in carbs. Three; it has a slightly sweeter taste. Wow! What more can one ask for? Almond Flour, among other things, is specially known for its Vitamin E content. Vitamin E is particularly known for its anti-ageing properties. So, more than just low carb content, it is also great for the skin.

Almond Flour Keto Bread has a chewy texture that makes it different from wheat flour bread. While this might seem hard on the tongue at first, you really come to love the texture as the taste settles on the tongue. Naturally, almond flour bread would feel crummy with the right ingredients, that can change, giving you a real bread-like feeling.

So, what’s the secret ingredient for the smooth bread-like texture? It is psyllium husk powder. It reduces the crumby nature of the almond flour. However, one should be careful not to use excess. Excess use of the psyllium husk powder will give the bread a gummy feel. We don’t want that!

The nutritional value and the net carb content also make this bread the ideal substitute for keto lovers. It can also be baked in large quantities for the whole family. Let’s get the needed ingredients and discuss the method involved.
